“Big Boy” Trains, Planes and Boats!

September 1-2, 2021

2 Days – 3 Meals

The Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 is coming to Kansas City and Sunnyland will be there for an overnight tour of Trains, Planes and…. Boats!

Twenty-five Big Boy steam engines were built exclusively for Union Pacific Railroad. Big Boy No. 4014 was delivered to Union Pacific in December 1941. The locomotive was retired in December 1961, having traveled 1,031,205 miles in its 20 years in service.  Union Pacific reacquired No. 4014 from the RailGiants Museum in Pomona, California, in 2013, and endured a multi-year restoration process. It returned to service in May 2019.

We will head to Kansas City on September 1st and take in the public viewing of the Union Pacific Big Boy, the National Airline Museum, and The Arabia Steamboat Museum. The following morning, we will be in attendance at Union Station to witness the Big Boy 4014 fire up and depart before we head to The National WWI Museum and Memorial, America’s leading institution dedicated to remembering, interpreting, and understanding the Great War and its enduring impact on the global community.
