2011 Great Northwest and Alaska Cruise Tour
Dallas - Ft. Worth Texas
&
Welcome to our tour! Your driver and escort will make your day comfortable and fun as we travel to Dallas for three nights. Your hotel is in the historic west end with lots of shopping and good places to eat.
LODGING: Springhill Suites Dallas Downtown West End
No tour to Dallas is complete without seeing the Mustangs of Los Colinas. A picture stop of these life-like sculptures is in order before departing for the Sixth Floor Museum, the site of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The Sixth Floor Museum displays an interesting exhibition on the life, death and legacy of President Kennedy. It is here in the former Texas School Book Depository that Lee Harvey Oswald supposedly fired the fatal shots. After an included lunch at a “locals” favorite west end eating place, we arrive at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens which covers 66 acres of trees, flowers and display gardens beside the lovely White Rock Lake. A tour of the Dallas World Aquarium gives you an opportunity to view anything from sharks to Jaguars, Crocodiles and a penguin colony and just about everything in between. We return to our hotel for a short break before departing for the Medieval Times Dinner Theatre for dinner and tournament. You are guests in a replica of an 11th-century castle, and after enjoying a four-course dinner, they will entertain us with knights on horseback competing in jousting matches and events of skill and accuracy.

On our way to Arlington, we will do a picture stop at the Pioneer Plaza to see the larger-than-life bronze longhorn cattle drive. Upon arriving in Arlington, our tour is of the brand new, billion dollar Cowboy Stadium. The new stadium replaces Texas Stadium, has a retractable dome, can seat 80,000 and be expanded to 100,000, is the largest domed stadium in the world and at a cost of 1.15 billion dollars, is the most expensive sports venue ever built. Our morning continues on to Fort Worth for an included lunch at Billy Bobs Texas, the world’s largest honky tonk. You can walk around and tour the clubs on your own. You will want to cross the street to the Fort Worth Stockyards where you can browse the western shops, saloons and for a small fee, tour the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. Be sure and be on Exchange Street at 4:00 PM to see the Live Cattle Drive down Exchange Street. We will re-board our coach at 5:00 PM and travel back to Arlington for our farewell dinner at the famous Trail Dust Steakhouse. Upon our return to Dallas, a ride to the top of the Reunion Tower’s Observation Deck to see Dallas at night is truly magnificent.
