This trip has it all with the serenity of horse drawn buggies in the Amish Country of Lancaster, PA to the hustle and bustle of New York City.  Top that off with a  return to the gilded age in Newport, Road Island and the brilliant fall colors in Vermont, New Hampshire and upstate New York.  To complete our tour we spend a night in picturesque Niagara Falls, Ontario with a luxurious dinner at the rotating restaurant Skylon Tower that looks directly over the falls.  This will be a tour to remember forever!

Day 1, Wednesday, September 27

Travel today is to Dayton, OH where we will enjoy a light get acquainted dinner at our hotel. (D)

Day 2, Thursday, September 28

Today we continue our eastward journey with a memorable stop at the new Flight 93 Visitors Center near Shanksville, PA.  Tonight we stay in the historic town of Bedford, PA. (B)

Day 3, Friday, September 29

A short drive today finds us in the Lancaster County Amish community of Bird-In-Hand, PA where we will enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful countryside and have lunch in an Amish Family home.  You will have free time today to explore the quaint shops and cafes that make the area unique before retiring back to our hotel. Day 4, Saturday, September 30

On this final day of September, we head to Battery Park in New York City and catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, where so many of our forefathers arrived in America.  After some leisurely time on your own we make our way back to the City and the 911 Memorial and Museum before heading to our hotel in New Jersey. Day 5, Sunday, October 1

This morning starts off with a guided tour of “The Big Apple”, the city that never sleeps! Afterwards, spend some time exploring Times Square and maybe try a slice of a New York pizza pie before we say goodbye to the big city and head towards Newport, Rhode Island for our over night. (B)

Day 6, Monday, October 2

After a hot breakfast, we head to “The Breakers”, the elegant summer home of the Vanderbilt Family. After our mansion tour, enjoy strolling the sidewalks of the picturesque seaside town of Newport, RI before we head towards the White Mountains town of North Conway, NH. Our hotel is the Red Jacket Resort, a customer favorite! (B  D)

Day 7, Tuesday, October 3

After a hearty breakfast and some leisure time at our resort,  we set out to enjoy some amazing vistas as we take a gondola ride to the top of Loon Mountain in the Presidential Mountains followed by a wonderful provided lunch at the foot of the mountain. Afterwards, we head up to the top of the 6,265 ft Mount Washington on the COG Railway, the world’s first mountain climbing COG railway. After this breathtaking journey, we return to the Red Jacket Resort.  (B  L  D)

Day 8, Wednesday, October 4

Today we have a scenic drive to the Green Mountain state of Vermont, where will  stand at the top of Quechee Gorge, the little grand canyon of Vermont. We end the day in Syracuse, New York. (B  L)

Day 9, Thursday, October 5

Today we travel across the New York Thruway along the edge of the Adirondack Mountains. With passports in hand, we cross the Rainbow Bridge as we head towards Niagara Falls, Ontario. This afternoon we take a guided tour of the Niagara Falls area with a stop at the Falls. You may want to take a ride on one of the boats out to the Falls, take an elevator trip down the side to go behind the Falls or spend time shopping at one of the several gift shops.  This evening we dine at the top of the Skylon Tower with its rotating restaurant high above the Falls and amazing 360 degree views.  (B  D)

Day 10, Friday, October 6

This morning we begin our journey home by crossing back into the United States and traveling to Dayton, OH for our overnight.  (B)

Day 11, Saturday, October 7

We return to Springfield today with fond memories of beautiful scenery, mansions, natural wonders, big cities and simple Amish life.  Before we arrive, Sunnyland will treat you to a farewell lunch as our way of saying “thank you” for travelling with us.   (B  L)
