Day 1 Wednesday,  June 20

Today we set off for a wonderful Northern excursion. We spend our first night in Loves Park, IL. We can get to know each other over an informal meal at our hotel. (D)

Day 2 Thursday,  June 21

This morning we depart for Manitowac, WI where we board the S.S. Badger for a 4 hour sail across Lake Michigan. While onboard, feel free to stroll the deck, relax in one of the lounges, watch a movie, or shop in the gift shop. Dinner is provided onboard. We arrive in Ludington, MI for our overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 3 Friday, June 22

This morning we venture to Silver Lake State Park; a nearly 3,000 acre area that boasts both dense forestland and sweeping sand dunes. Here we will take a fun filled, 7 mile dunes tour hosted by knowledgeable drivers who understand the history and environment of the constantly changing sand mountains. After some free time for lunch, we venture north toward Traverse City. Along the way we will make a stop at Pointe Betsie lighthouse to visit the historic light and charming lighthouse keepers’ quarters. (B)

Day 4 Saturday, June 23

Today we will set sail on the Tall Ship Manitou. This is a replica of an 1800’s schooner that is similar to those that sailed the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean. Once we clear the deck, you are invited to help set sail!   Wind and waves alone will determine our course during the voyage – the expert captain and crew guiding the ship to provide you with the best possible experience. You can sit back and take it all in, or become involved with the sailing of the vessel. After this exhilarating sail, we continue north to Mackinaw City. (B, L)

Day 5 Sunday,  June 24

This morning we board the ferry to Mackinac Island. Our journey will take us underneath the “Mighty Mac” bridge, for an amazing perspective of this awesome structure. We will be greeted by horse drawn carriages and treated to a tour of this quaint island. The tour ends at the glorious, historic Grand Hotel. Here we will indulge in the sumptuous Grand Buffet for lunch. After lunch, you have the afternoon free to do what you wish. You may stay and explore The Grand, sample fudge at every shop in town, or simply relax and let the world go by. Taxi vouchers will be provided for you to return to town at your leisure. (B ,L)

Day 6 Monday, June 25

This morning we wave goodbye to Mackinac Island, as we take the ferry back to Mackinaw City. We start our journey south to Holland, MI. This Dutch influenced city is famous for its tulips in early spring. We will stop at Windmill Island Gardens this afternoon to view a 250 year old Dutch Windmill that still grinds flour! We have time to wander through the many attractions in this oasis, and enjoy the sea of summer flowers that decorate the grounds. (B)

Day 7 Tuesday, June 26

Before departing Holland, we will have another stop to soak in a bit of Dutch culture. A stop at DeKlomp Wooden Shoe and Delft Factory will allow us to watch as wooden shoes are carved on machines imported from the Netherlands. Artisans hand-paint the traditional blue and white Delftware at the only production Delftware factory in the U.S. We then continue to Springfield, IL where we rest our heads one last time. (B)

Day 8 Wednesday, June 27

This is our last day together, and as a “Thank you” for travelling with Sunnyland, you will be treated to a farewell lunch before arriving back into Springfield, MO. (B, L)
