Day 1, Friday, April 6

Depart Springfield, Missouri for Manchester, Tennessee where we will have a get acquainted dinner at our hotel. (D)

Day 2, Saturday, April 7

Today we continue our travel via Atlanta, Georgia into Brunswick, Georgia for our overnight. (B)

Day 3, Sunday, April 8

Today we begin our Southern Adventure with a local guide for a tour of the beautiful historic ”Golden Isles”.  It will include Jekyll Island, featuring the winter homes of turn-of-the-century millionaires.  Also St. Simons Island with a stop at Christchurch and the cemetery in Frederica made famous by Eugenia Price in her novel “Beloved Invader”.  There will be time for lunch and shopping at the village pier where the light house is located.  See the beautiful old oak trees draped with moss.  We continue to Savannah, Georgia for 2 nights. (B)

Day 4, Monday, April 9

We start our adventure in Georgia’s oldest city with a fun and informative trolley tour through historic squares, oak lined streets, and along the bustling waterfront of Savannah.  The city has many layers of history and peeling them back can certainly make you hungry – so our tour ends with a sumptuous, Italian lunch.  After lunch, the rest of the day is free to enjoy any way you wish.  Perhaps you would like to take a riverboat ride, or just simply spend the afternoon shopping and exploring. (B, L)

Day 5, Tuesday, April 10

We wave good bye to Savannah and head north into the low country of South Carolina.  First we visit the home of the American Classic Tea at the Charleston Tea Plantation.  Here we will take a trolley tour through acres of tea plants and learn how they process them before having the opportunity to sample some of the tea, before we enjoy a picnic lunch.  Then we head down the road to the Deep Water Winery, Charleston’s only domestic vineyard and winery.  Of course we will have the chance to tour the winery and have a small sampling of their wares as well!  We then continue on toward Charleston.  (B, L)

Day 6, Wednesday, April 11

Today we are introduced to the lovely city of Charleston.  Learn history and hear entertaining stories as you meander through the city in a horse drawn carriage.  After lunch, we will board our boat for a cruise around Charleston Harbor on our way to Ft. Sumter.  Here we have the opportunity to tour the fort and try to re-live that fateful day when the first shots of the Civil War were fired.  Don’t worry, you will have some time to enjoy the historic city market in Charleston as well! (B)

Day 7, Thursday, April 12

It will be another beautiful day as we set out with a tour of Magnolia Plantation and gardens.  Here you will be able to tour the main house, the garden, take the nature tram, the road from slavery to freedom, or even discover the Audubon Swamp!  We treat you to lunch at the Plantation’s café before heading toward Charlotte, North Carolina for the evening. (B, L)

Day 8, Friday, April 13

A real treat is in store for us this morning, as we gaze upon the Miracle on the Hudson, and learn about Captain Sully and his crew, that worked so hard to save his passengers, at the Carolinas Aviation Museum.  This afternoon we continue on to Ashville, North Carolina to tour the awesome Biltmore Mansion, home of the Vanderbilts, America’s largest residence. (B)

Day 9, Saturday, April 14

We begin our journey home and will end our day with a lovely farewell dinner at Devinchi’s Little Italian as our way of saying “Thank You” for traveling with Sunnyland Tours. Lodging will be in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. (B, D)

Day 10, Sunday, April 15

We return to Springfield today in mid-afternoon with memories of southern charm and history. (B)
