We Depart from Springfield, MO and head into Kansas with a drive by of the Cathedral of the Plains in Victoria before we overnight in Hays.

Day 2, Monday, June 25, 2012
We keep heading west to the mile high city of Denver with the majestic Rocky Mountains as a backdrop. First, we will head downtown for a tour of the U.S. Mint, then have a drive around Denver’s capitol buildings before heading to our hotel. Unless delayed, we should be able to enjoy complimentary drinks and hot hors’ devours at our hotel tonight.

Awesome scenery is the order of the day as we make our way across the Continental Divide into Grand Junction and experience the Colorado National Monument which preserves one of the greatest landscapes of the American West.

Day 4, Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Majestic scenery abounds on the Million Dollar Highway to Ouray, the “Little Switzerland of the Rockies.” We stop for a view of the magnificent Box Canyon Falls before continuing on to Silverton, Colorado. We arrive in time for lunch and some free time before boarding the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway for an awesome journey along the old ore route, clinging to the precipitous walls of the Animas River Gorge and arrive in Durango, Colorado for our overnight.

Day 5, Thursday, June 28, 2012
This morning we have a jeep tour to the La Plata canyon with awesome views of waterfalls and the mining camp of La Plata City. We might even seen some copper, silver and gold viens in the high altitude peaks in the canyon. After lunch on our own, we’ll depart Durango and head to Alamosa, Colorado for the night.

Day 6, Friday, June 29, 2012
We experience a picturesque view from the Royal Gorge Bridge and enjoy an included lunch before we take to the rails through the “Grand Canyon of the Arkansas.” The track runs alongside the raging waters of the Arkansas River and under the famous Hanging Bridge, which clings precariously to the steep granite walls of the Royal Gorge, towering over 1,000 feet above. Unless delayed we should arrive at our hotel, the Drury Inn, in time for their complimentary drinks and hot hors’ devours buffet.

Day 7, Saturday, June 30, 2012
Our day begins with an awesome tour of the Garden of the Gods to see the spectacular 300 million year old sandstone rock formations. After watching a movie about the Gardens and a lunch at the Visitor Center, we will travel to Manitou Springs. Thrills and majestic views await us as we board the Cog Railroad for a breathtaking ride to the top of Pikes Peak, the second most visited mountain in the world, second only to Japan’s Mount Fuji. At an altitude of 14,110 feet, it is truly breathtaking in more ways than one – so walk slowly and take your time. Again, we should be able to enjoy complimentary drinks and hot hors’ devours tonight at our hotel.

We say goodbye to Colorado and head east to Salina, Kansas with a Farewell Dinner as our way of saying Thank You for traveling with Sunnyland Tours.
