Day 1, Thursday, May 10, 2012
There is so much to see that we will have an early start on this fantastic day! Our first stop is at the RoaringRiverState Park for a short break and view the lake and the Fish Hatchery in its lovely spring setting. We continue on the scenic route to Eureka Springs and our first stop will be a short trip west of Eureka Springs to the Thorncrown Chapel, a majestic glass chapel nestled in the Ozark Mountains. We return to Eureka Springs to tour the St. Elizabeth Church where you enter the church through the BellTower – the only church in the world where you can do this – listed in Ripley’s Believe it or Not!. Be sure to check out the PrayerGarden where you have an excellent view of the Christ of the Ozarks Statue. Our lunch is included at the lovely Crystal Dining Room in the awesome Crescent Hotel. After lunch we depart for a beautiful drive to DogwoodCanyon for shopping time at the General Store for a great selection of gifts and souvenirs. We board our tram for our Wildlife Tram tour which takes us past the Glory Hole into the more rugged reaches of the canyon, cross the Arkansas border, and ascend some 300 feet to the bison, elk and longhorn pastures. When possible, the driver will bring you very close to these majestic creatures while sharing facts about their heritage and habitat. We end this glorious day with a delightful dinner at the Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks. We should arrive home around 8:00 PM. Lunch Dinner
