Day 1,  Saturday, September 1

This morning we meet the coach just steps away from the start of it all- Springfield, MO the birthplace of the Mother Road. From here we will head Northeast, following the original road whenever we can. We will take time in “Route 66 Mural City”; Cuba, MO for an early lunch and to view some of the iconic sites in this historic town. Then on to St. Louis where we will check into the beautiful Drury Plaza at the Arch in the heart of the city. This evening we head to “the Hill”, St Louis’ famed Italian neighborhood for a scrumptious dinner. (L, D)

Day 2,  Sunday, September 2

Prepare to step back in time today! We start the day with a viewing of “Show Me 66” a film created by the Missouri History Museum that documents the sights along Missouri’s main street and their significance. We then step out with a local expert to explore some of these spots that are still in existence today. We will stroll the Chain of Rocks Bridge, view historic neighborhoods and marvel at amazing cars at the Museum of Transportation. We will have a light lunch and we may even sneak in a frozen custard at Ted Drewes! After our busy day, we will return to our hotel. You will have free time to explore the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, a.k.a. “the Arch” and the Old Courthouse all within easy walking distance. You can choose to take advantage of the food and drink offered at the hotel or opt for a night out on the town! ( B, L)

Day 3,  Monday, September 3

We hit the road again as we journey back to Springfield on Route 66. The scenery is the same, but we will see it in a different light knowing a little more about the importance of this stretch of Missouri. Before getting home, we enjoy one more lunch together along the way. (B,L)
