We depart Springfield for Hammond, Indiana for our first nights lodging.

Day 2, Monday, June 11, 2012
We arrive in Dearborn, Michigan for lunch on our own and a tour of the Automotive Hall of Fame before continuing on to Frankenmuth, Michigan. You may wish to visit the Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland this evening. Unless delayed, we should arrive in time for drinks and a hot hors’ devours buffet in the evening.

Day 3, Tuesday, June 12, 2012
We will have a short guided tour of this lovely Bavarian town with a stop at St. Lorenz Church before departing for Bay City, Michigan and a tour of the historic area. Tea is served at Chesney’s Keswick Mansion, a beautiful Victorian home built in 1896. Enjoy some free time in East Tawas before back tracking a little to Au Gres, Michigan to board our ship for Charity Island. Dinner is served on the porch of the Lighthouse providing a breathtaking view of Saginaw Bay and then you will be able to tour the home. Hopefully, the return trip will give you an awesome view of the sunset.

Day 4, Wednesday, June 13, 2012
We depart our hotel for a short drive to the Wiltse’s Family Restaurant for a Breakfast Buffet and then we will travel to the Lumberman’s Monument to learn about Michigan’s
lumbering history. We board our Paddle Wheel River Boat for a two hour cruise on the beautiful Au Sable River rich in both Indian and Lumbering history. Be sure and watch for the wildlife. Box Lunches will be provided. We check into the fabulous Thunder Bay Resort for two nights and then experience an exciting Carriage ride through an Elk Preserve to the Elk Antler Log Cabin for a gourmet, 5-course dinner prepared on antique wood cook stoves.

Day 5, Thursday, June 14, 2012
A visit to the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center gives us the opportunity to view
the ship wreck exhibit. The Thunder Bay’s rocky shoals and the unpredictable
weather of Lake Huron gave the area the name of “Shipwreck Alley”. Many ships ended
their careers on the lake floor of Alpena, Michigan. We will view the film “Tragedies of the Mist”. We travel to Presque Isle, Michigan for a picnic lunch and tours of both the Old and New Presque Isle Lighthouses before returning to Alpena for a tour of the Fletcher Street Brewing facility and to taste their brew. We return to Thunder Bay Resort and a Pizza Party to end our day.

Day 6, Friday, June 15, 2012
We board the Mackinac Island Ferry for transportation to the Island. A carriage ride of the Island will land you at the fabulous Grand Hotel for a gigantic Lunch Buffet. Spend the afternoon in the rocking chairs on the porch of the Grand Hotel, explore the island, or shop the day away. Tonight our lodging is the elegant Lake View Hotel, the oldest continuously operated hotel on Mackinac Island.
