Day 1, Friday, July 6

Depart Springfield and travel to Garden City, Kansas for our overnight.  Tonight we will have a get acquainted dinner at our hotel.  (D)

Day 2, Saturday, July 7

Today finds us heading to Durango, Colorado.   We will get a good nights rest before starting our amazing adventure into the heart of the Colorado Rockies.  (B)

Day 3, Sunday, July 8

This morning, we will be heading to Mesa Verde National Park and Cliff Dwellings. We will marvel at how talented and resourceful the Ancient Anasazi People were.  This afternoon you will have time to explore the nostalgic town of Durango, before heading to Bar D Ranch for a Traditional Chuck Wagon Dinner. (B D)

Day 4, Monday, July 9

What an exciting day! We board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad where a vintage, coal powered, steam engine will take us high above the Animas River to Silverton. This scenic route was built to transport gold and silver ore out of the San Juan Mountains, but because of the sheer beauty of the area it has played host to passengers since the 1880’s. In Silverton, you have time to have lunch and explore before traveling along the “million dollar highway” toward Montrose for our nights stay.  (B D)

Day 5, Tuesday, July 10

Today we will have the opportunity to visit the Royal Gorge Bridge, at 1053 feet above the ground.  After lunch, we board the Royal Gorge Route Railway for a scenic ride along the winding, tumbling Arkansas River. You can look up the soaring canyon walls and see the bridge from a completely different perspective.   (B L)

Day 6, Wednesday, July 11

Two of Colorado’s most popular sites are on the agenda today.  After a short drive to Manitou Springs, we board the Pikes Peak Cog Railroad for a thrilling ride to the top. At 14,115 ft, this is one of the highest peaks in Colorado. At the summit, the view is spectacular and the air is certainly cooler than in the city below, but you can stay warm inside the gift shop and enjoy a Pikes Peak donut! Next, it is off to The Garden of the Gods. Here we will be treated to lunch, a film and a private tour of this spectacular natural wonder.  (B L)

Day 7, Thursday, July 12

Today we head east out across the high plains of Colorado to Kansas. We will enjoy our farewell lunch along the way before arriving in Salina Kansas.     (B L)

Day 8, Friday, July 13

Mid afternoon should find us back home in Springfield, Missouri but memories of the matchless beauty of this tour will live on in our minds for a lifetime.  (B).
