This morning we venture out into the “hill country” of Texas. Our first stop will be for a tour of the LBJ Ranch, Texas White House, LBJ Birthplace, family cemetery and more. Next we’ll visit Fredericksburg located in the heart of the Texas “hill country.”! Flavored by its German and frontier heritage, the holiday season is a fabulous time to visit its 150 shops, galleries, boutiques and emporiums where shopping remains one of the highlights of the tour; however, with over 700 historically significant structures in the historic district, history literally surrounds you. Later this afternoon we depart for San Antonio and 3 nights at the historic Emily Morgan Hotel.

The morning starts with a full day guided tour of San Antonio including the San Fernando Cathedral, San Jose Mission and the SAS Shoe factory.

Day 4, Saturday, December 1, 2012
Today we’ll visit the Tower of Americas and the Institute of Texan Culture where you can learn about the many cultures in present day Texas and the history of how they migrated to the state. The remainder of the day is your time to explore. You may wish to take the trolley to “The Market” for some South of the Border shopping. After dark, be sure and take your Barge Ride on the San Antonio River. Their Fiesta de las Luminarias on the river follows a tradition began in the 1500’s. Candles are placed along the Riverwalk this evening to light the way for Joseph and Mary on their way to Bethlehem.

Day 5, Sunday, December 2, 2012
Today we take the short drive to Austin, TX for a driving tour. We’ll pass by the Capitol building and have a picture stop. We’ll circle around the Governor’s Mansion, pass by government buildings and see the University of Texas at Austin before heading to Richardson, TX.

Taking with us the beauty of San Antonio and a renewed Christmas Spirit, we leave the Lone Star State and head back to Springfield for an arrival at approximately 4:15 PM.
