Day 1, Saturday, April 13, 2019

Depart Springfield,  Missouri.  Today’s destination is New Paris, Ohio.  Tonight we will enjoy a light get acquainted dinner at our hotel.  (D)

Day 2, Sunday, April 14, 2019

We depart Ohio and head to another Springfield – Springfield, Virginia for a three-night stay and our visit to our nation’s capital. (B)

Day 3, Monday, April 15, 2019

An awesome day as we begin our tour of Washington DC.   We will pick up our local guide for an absolutely fascinating narrated tour of all the things you think about when you think of Washington, DC.  The Capitol, a back yard glimpse of the White House, the new nostalgic World War II Memorial, plus Korean, Vietnam, Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorials and the impressive Lincoln Memorial.  We will drive by the Washington monument and get a glimpse of government buildings, including the Capitol. Day 4, Tuesday, April 16, 2019

Another exciting day as we explore the multitude of museums at the Smithsonian Institution.  When the day is over you will realize that even a week would not be enough time to view all of the wonderful exhibits which preserves our history and culture.  Tonight we enjoy dinner in Georgetown on the waterfront at Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place. Day 5, Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Today we will visit Arlington National Cemetery, where we will view the gravesites of the Kennedy family, including Ted, Robert, John F. and Jackie. We will witness the changing of the guard at the  the Tomb of the Unknowns.  In the afternoon we will travel to Mt. Vernon, George Washington’s farm and home on the beautiful Potomac River.   This evening we will enjoy an informal dinner at our hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia. (B, D)

Day 6, Thursday, April 18, 2019

This morning we visit Monticello, the mountaintop home of Thomas Jefferson and one of the most unique colonial homes in America.  After a tour and lunch at the historical Michie’s Tavern, we turn west through the fabulous Shenandoah Valley to Bedford, Virginia where we have a guided tour of the awesome D-Day Memorial before departing for Roanoke, Virginia for our overnight. Day 7, Friday, April 19, 2019

Enjoy the beautiful foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains as we travel through Knoxville and Nashville into Hopkinsville, Kentucky for our lodging.  Tonight we will have a farewell dinner. (B, D)

Day 8, Saturday, April 20, 2019

Our final leg of the journey finds us traversing Missouri with an early afternoon arrival back home in Springfield. (B)
