Day 1, Saturday, April 22, 2017

Depart Springfield,  Missouri.  Today’s destination is Dayton, Ohio.  Tonight we will enjoy a light get acquainted dinner at our hotel.  (D)

Day 2, Sunday, April 23, 2017

We depart Ohio and head to another Springfield, Springfield, Virginia for a three-night stay and our visit to our nation’s capital. (B)

Day 3, Monday, April 24, 2017

An awesome day as we begin our tour of Washington DC.   We will pick up our local guide for an absolutely fascinating narrated tour of all the things you think about when you think of Washington, DC.  The Capital, a back yard glimpse of the White House, the new nostalgic World War II Memorial, plus Korean, Vietnam, Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorials and the impressive Lincoln Memorial.  We will drive by the Washington monument and get a glimpse of all of the government buildings, including the capitol. Day 4, Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Another exciting day with the opportunity to spend a full day exploring the multitude of museums at the Smithsonian Institution.  When the day is over you will realize that even a week would not be enough time to view all of the wonderful exhibits at this marvelous preservation of our history and culture.  Tonight we enjoy dinner in Georgetown on the waterfront at Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place. Day 5, Wednesday, April 26, 2017

This morning we will visit Arlington National Cemetery where we will visit the gravesites of the Kennedy family, including Ted, Bobbie, John F and Jackie. We will also witness the changing of the guard at the  the Tomb of the Unknowns. In the afternoon we will travel to Mt. Vernon, George Washington’s farm and home on the beautiful Potomac River.   This evening we will be in is Charlottesville, Virginia for our lodging. (B)

Day 6, Thursday, April 27, 2017

This morning we visit Monticello, the mountain top home of Thomas Jefferson and one of the most unique colonial homes in America.  After a tour and lunch at the Historical Michie’s Tavern and we turn west through the fabulous Shenandoah Valley to Bedford, Virginia where we have a guided tour of the awesome D-Day Memorial before departing for Roanoke, Virginia for our over night. Day 7, Friday, April 28, 2017

Enjoy the beautiful foot hills of the Great Smoky Mountains as we travel through Knoxville and Nashville into Hopkinsville, Kentucky for our lodging.  Tonight we will have a farewell dinner. (B, D)

Day 8, Saturday, April 29, 2017

Our final leg of the journey finds us traversing Missouri with an early afternoon arrival back home in Springfield in mid-afternoon. (B)
