Mt. Rushmore is our first stop on this busy day of sightseeing.  We’ll learn how this national treasure was carved out of a mountain with the faces of some of our greatest presidents.  Next we will go to the Crazy Horse memorial, also in the Black Hills.  This monument to an Oglala Lakota warrior has been in process of being carved out of a mountain since 1948.  This afternoon we will drive through Custer State Park with its many scenic routes and picture stops.  Tonight we stay in Deadwood, South Dakota famous for its lawless gold rush culture in its early days and the spot where Wild Bill Hickock met his demise.  After an included tour of the town’s attractions, we’ll have an included dinner.  Afterwards, you may want to try your luck at one of the many gaming establishments in town.  (B  D)

We will enjoy a scenic drive to North Dakota and and arrive in downtown Medora at the Rough Rider’s Hotel known for hosting Teddy Roosevelt as he often visited this area for its wildlife and scenic beauty.  This afternoon we will enjoy a tour of Chateau de Mores, the historic home of the founder of Medora, Marquis de Mores, a French aristocrat who came to Dakota Territories to start a cattle operation.  An optional “very authentic” stage coach ride is offered, if you choose to partake.   This evening we are in for a treat with an outdoor dinner with steaks cooked in a unique way over an open fire on pitchforks.  After dinner, we will enjoy the Medora Musical, a musical tribute to Theodore Roosevelt, the old west and the rich history of the Black Hills.  (B  D)
